Dr. A. Lauren Hood-Olson

With roots in Southern Illinois, Dr. Lauren was raised in McLeansboro, IL. After graduating Valedictorian of her high school, she attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Dr. Lauren received the Illinois General Assembly Legislative Scholarship. She was also recognized as a Chancellor Scholar, served as a student Senator and received a Bachelors of Science in Biology/Chemistry. She was awarded the highest earning GPA honor in the College of Arts and Sciences for the graduating class of 2003.

After college, she attended Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL. During her dental education, Dr. Lauren served as Class President, Vice President of her dental fraternity, and a student panel advisor to the Dean. She was awarded the Pierre Fauchard Academy scholarship, the Alliance of the Illinois State Dental Society scholarship, and was chosen as one of 5 members from her class for the honor fraternity Omicron Kappa Epsilon.

While attending dental school, she married her husband, Andrew Olson of O’Fallon, IL. She graduated Suma Cum Laude with her Doctorate of Dental Medicine and was Valedictorian of her 2006 class. Making a move to the Northeast, Dr. Lauren attended Eastman Dental Center at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Upon completion of a two-year residency, she was awarded her Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. During her residency, many hours of study and patient care were dedicated to the treatment of Cleft Lip and Palate and other genetic dentofacial abnormalities.

After 10 years of advanced education, Dr. Lauren is happy to return to the Metro East area. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and serving as the 2010-2011 President of the St. Clair Dental Society. She and her husband welcomed their first child, a daughter, Avalinn on May 28, 2010. They reside in O’Fallon. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets, reading, photography, running, and of course cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
